Biography

Norwegian track and field athlete Ketil Askildt represented Idrettslaget Hermod where he specialised in the discus throw. Askildt won his first medal at the national championships in 1924 when he came third, before winning gold the following year. He then won a further six Norwegian titles in the event (1926–27, 1929–30, 1932–33), along with silver in 1931 and bronze in 1928. He also won medals in the shot put with bronze in 1926 and silver in 1930. Askildt competed in both the discus and the shot put at the 1924 Paris Olympics where he finished 5th and 15th, respectively. Four years later he competed in the discus throw at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics where he also had the honour of being the flagbearer for Norway at the Opening Ceremony.

Personal Bests: SP – 13.94 (1926); DT – 46.48 (1926).
