Biography

Gunnar Hagen was a Norwegian all-round track and field athlete who represented IL i BUL in Oslo. From the mid-1920s to the early 1930s Hagen won more than a dozen medals at the national championships, including eight golds. He specialised in the multi-event disciplines, winning his first medal in 1925 with silver in the decathlon. He returned the following year to become the national champion in both the decathlon and the triple jump. He retained his triple jump title in 1927 and won his second decathlon title in 1928, before doing the double of winning both events in 1929 and 1930. He also won silver medals in the high jump (1927, 1929, 1932) and the pentathlon (1927). Hagen competed in the decathlon at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but withdrew from the competition after five events.
