Biography

Harald Stenerud was a Norwegian track and field athlete who specialised in the discus and hammer throw events. Stenerud was one of the best weight throwers in Norway during the late 1920s and early 1930s, winning 16 medals at the national championships. He won his first medal in 1926 with bronze in the hammer throw, before winning silver in 1927. This was followed by winning seven golds from 1928 to 1935, only missing out in 1932 when he won silver. In the discus throw Stenerud was the Norwegian champion in 1928 and 1931, and won two silver (1930, 1935) and two bronze medals (1929, 1933). He also won the British AAA Championship title in the event in 1929. Stenerud competed in the hammer and discus at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics where he just missed out on a medal in the latter, finishing fourth.
