Loucif Hamani represented Tunisia in the light-middleweight boxing tournament at the 1972 Munich Olympics, where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals by upcoming bronze medalist Alan Minter of Great Britain. After winning the gold medal at the 1973 All-Africa Games, he turned professional and, in 1976, became the African Super Welter champion. He retained this title in 1977 and continued to fight through 1983, winning 24 of his 27 bouts. Following his retirement from active competition, he settled in France, where he died from the effects of Parkinson’s Disease in 2021. For his career achievements, he was awarded the African Golden Glove in 2005.
