From the mid-1930s until the early 1940s Antonio Cuba represented Peru in track and field athletics as a sprinter. Cuba ran in the 100 metres at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he was eliminated in the heats. He was also scheduled to run in both the 200 and 400 metres in Berlin but did not start in either race. Two years after the Olympics he won gold in the 400 metres at the 1938 Bolivarian Games in Bogotá, Colombia. Cuba also had success in the same event at the South American Championships in Athletics, winning silver in 1939, followed by bronze in 1941.
