Genowefa Kobielska

Genowefa Kobielska was a Polish athlete who competed in the shot put, discus, and javelin. After leaving school Kobielska took up sport in 1927, and a year later she finished in eighth place in the discus at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. Her husband Antoni Cejzik was also a Polish track and field athlete who competed at two Olympic Games.

In June 1934 Kobielska set a world record in the discus throw using both hands. Between 1929 and 1939 she represented Poland eight times at international competitions. Kobielska set three national records in the discus and javelin. At the Polish Championships she won gold in the javelin in 1937 and also won a total of 10 silver medals at different editions of the Championships. She finished fifth in the 1938 European Championships discus throw and seventh in the 1938 European Championships shot put. In 1951 Kobielska graduated with a master’s degree in physical education and began to coach athletics.
