Biography

Robert Pfitscher was the Austrian light-middleweight boxing champion in 1977 and 1978, and middleweight champion between 1979-1982. He was selected for the 1980 Moskva (Moscow) Olympics in the middleweight division, but lost his first bout to the eventual silver medallist Viktor Savchenko when the referee stopped the contest. Pfitscher turned professional in 1983 but fought only six contests, and after winning his first three, lost the next three before retirement. His father Franz also was an Olympian boxer.
