Biography

Boxer Rainer Salzburger was Austrian light-middleweight champion in 1965, 1968, and 1970). He was selected for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics but failed to win his first-round bout and was knocked-out by David Jackson from Uganda.

Salzburger later turned to coaching and sports administration. From 1986-2000 he was vice-president, and from 2000-04, president of the Austrian Boxing Association, becoming vice-president once again in 2010. He was also professor for sport and geography at the Wörgl Commercial Academy.
