Polish all-round track and field athlete Zygmunt Siedlecki represented Legia Warszawa. Siedlecki began his sporting career playing football but moved to athletics while in high school. In 1932 he produced a very good performance in the decathlon, earning him a place on the Polish Olympic team. At the 1932 Los Angeles Games, however, he was forced to withdraw after the pole vault event due to an injury. At the Polish championships he won the national title in the discus throw in 1934, along with silvers in the shot put (1931, 1933), and the discus (1931). He also held national records in the decathlon and the discus, and won gold in the standing long jump at the 1935 Polish indoor championships.
Siedlecki joined the Polish Army in 1935 and fought in the September Campaign in 1939. As a member of the underground movement he was arrested on two occasions by the Nazis but managed to escape and survived the war. He then became an athletics coach for the Polish teams that competed at the 1946 European Championships in Oslo and the 1948 London Olympics.
