Argentina Menis was a Romanian athlete who specialised in the discus. Menis was a nine-time national champion, won the silver medal at the München Olympics, and set a world record in September 1972 that lasted for eight months. She won two more silver medals at the Summer Universiade (1973, 1975) and silver at the 1974 European Athletics Championships. At the 1976 Montréal Olympics she finished in sixth place despite throwing further than she did at the München Games.
After retiring from the sport Menis became a coach at Dinamo București. In 2000 she was awarded with first class honours for the National Medal Faithful Service and the Military Order.
