Biography

Danie Jacobs was a South African track athlete who competed in middle and long-distance races. Jacobs ran in the 1,500 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but was eliminated in his heat. In the 10,000 metres, which consisted of a final only, he finished in 20th place out of the 20 athletes to finish the race. Jacobs was also scheduled to run in the 800 metres and the 5,000 metres but did not start in either race. He died in Pretoria in June 1999 at the age of 95.
