Biography

South African track and field athlete Denis Shore competed as a sprinter on either side of the Second World War. Shore ran in the 400 metres at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he reached the quarter-finals. He was also part of the quartet that ran in the 4 x 400 metres relay. Two years later he won bronze in the 440 yards at the British Empire Games in Sydney. Shore ran in both the 200 and 400 metres at the 1948 London Olympics, reaching the semi-finals of the latter.

Personal Bests: 200 – 21.0y (1937); 400 – 46.5 (1938).
