Biography

Marthinus Theunissen was a South African track and field athlete who specialised as a sprinter. Theunissen won silver in the 100 yards and 220 yards at the 1934 British Empire Games in London, England. Two years later he ran in the 100 and 200 metres at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, reaching the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively. He was also part of the South African quartet that ran in the 4 x 100 metres relay.
