South African track sprinter Willie Walters came away from the 1930 British Empire Games in Hamilton, Ontario with four medals. Walters won silver in the 440 yards, finishing just behind Alex Wilson of Canada. He also won bronze in the 220 yards, 4 x 110 yards relay, and the 4 x 440 yards relay. His performances secured him a spot on South Africa’s Olympic team for the 1932 Los Angeles Games. Walters continued to be consistent in his performances, finishing sixth in the 200 metres, and fourth in the 400 metres.
