Swiss track and field athlete Rolf Bühler represented TV Unterstrass in Zürich, where he specialised in the javelin throw. Even though compatriot Urs von Wartburg dominated the event at the national championships for two decades, Bühler did become the Swiss champion in 1968, throwing a personal best of 80.42 metres. This earned him a place on the Olympic team for the Mexico City Games; however, he struggled with the conditions, finishing last of the 27 competitors in the qualification round with a best effort of 61.06 metres.
