Biography

Away from his day job of working on the railways Arturo Conturbia was one of the best Swiss athletes during the interwar period. Conturbia specialised in the discus throw where he was the Swiss champion in the discipline from 1926 to 1933. He first set a national record in the event in 1925, going on to better the mark two years later with the record standing until 1932. Conturbia competed in the discus at the 1928 Paris Olympics, finishing in 15th place with a throw of 41.90 metres. He was also scheduled to participate in the javelin throw but did not start the event.
