Arne Åhman excelled in both the high jump and triple jump. The highlight of his career came at the 1948 Olympics, where he won gold in the triple jump. Besides his Olympic gold, Åhman won silver in the high jump at the 1950 European Championships, and bronze in triple jump at the 1946 Europeans. Domestically Åhman won Swedish triple jump titles in 1946-47 and the 1950 high jump title. By profession Åhman was a high school schoolteacher and in the 1980s he worked as a rector of Mimer School in Umeå.
