At the 1912 Olympics Erik Almlöf won a bronze medal in the triple jump to help Sweden sweep the medals. He returned in 1920 to repeat as bronze medalist. In the interim Almlöf travelled the world winning triple jump titles. He was Swedish Champion in 1913-14, was third at the 1914 British AAA Championship, won the 1915-16 Swedish-American Championship, won the 1919 Metropolitan (US) title, and was second at the US Nationals, both indoors and outdoors, in 1916. After the 1920 Olympics, Almlöf placed second to his teammate Folke Jansson in the USA-FRA-SWE triangular meet. His last major meet was the 1923 Göteborg Games, at which he placed fourth, after which he retired. Almlöf was a businessman who divided his interests between Sweden and the United States.
