Anatole Bolin

Sweden’s Anatole Bolin represented IFK Stockholm where he specialised in running in the 400, 800, and 1,000 metres, setting national records at all three distances. Bolin won his first medal at the Swedish championships with a silver in the 400 metres in 1914. At the same distance he won bronze in 1915, another silver in 1916, and a gold in 1918. His record was better in the 800 metres where he won three gold (1915–16, 1918) and two silver medals (1919–20).

In 1916 Bolin set national records in all three distances, with his time in the 1,000 metres standing until 1922. Two years later he bettered his own record in the 1,000 metres, setting a world record in the process. Bolin ran in the 400 metres and 800 metres at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics, reaching the semi-finals in the latter.
