Biography

In the late 1930s and early 1940s Swedish track and field athlete Per-Olof Edfeldt enjoyed success in both the 400 metres and the pentathlon. In 1937 and 1938 Edfeldt won silver in the pentathlon at the national championships, before winning gold in both the 400 metres and pentathlon in 1939. He won two more silver medals at the Swedish championships, the first in the pentathlon in 1940 and the second in the 400 metres in 1942. Edfeldt was also part of the Swedish quartet that finished fifth in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
