Biography

Sten Erickson had a relatively brief, but successful, career in track and field athletics, specializing in the triple jump. In 1959 he set a Swedish record of 15.68 in that event while winning the national championships, and he improved that record to 15.76 when capturing the title the following year. This led to his selection to represent his country at the 1960 Rome Olympics, where he placed 11th. He never again reached the podium at the national championships, but in total he represented Sweden internationally 25 times, and his national record was not broken until 1969. By career, he was active in trade unions.

Personal Best: TJ – 15.76 (1960).
