Biography
The son of a Swedish baron Folke Fleetwood had a lengthy career in the military in addition to being a successful discus thrower. Fleetwood started out as a volunteer at the 1st Life Grenadier Regiment before graduating as an officer in 1910. He worked his way up through the ranks becoming a sub-lieutenant, then a lieutenant, a captain, and, by 1939, a major in the Svea Life Guards infantry regiment.
As an athlete Fleetwood competed at multiple editions of the Swedish Championships in the discus where he won bronze in 1909 and 1911 and silver in 1916. At the 1908 London Olympics he competed in the discus throw and the Greek-style discus throw but failed to register a mark in either event. Four years later he fared slightly better at his home Olympics in Sweden, finishing in seventh place in the two-handed discus throw and 28th place in the standard discus event.
