Olle Hallberg

From the mid-1920s to the mid-1930s Olle Hallberg was the best long jumper in Sweden, winning multiple titles and improving the national record on several occasions. Hallberg won his first national title in the long jump at the 1925 Swedish championships before going on to win gold seven more times (1926–30, 1932, 1934). He competed at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but failed to advance from the qualifying round, finishing in 10th place overall with a best jump of 7.18 metres.

From 1927 to 1929 Hallberg improved the Swedish record on three occasions with jumps of 7.47 (1927), 7.50 (1928), and 7.51 (1929), with the latter distance standing until 1934 when Eric Svensson jumped 7.53 metres. Hallberg equalled Svensson’s record later the same year with the record not being broken until 1959 when Torgny Wåhlander jumped 7.58 metres.
