Sweden’s Klas Lundström was an accomplished distance runner who won the national title in the 10,000 metres in 1911. Lundström also won silver in the cross-country race at the 1910 national championships and bronze in the 1,500 metres in 1912. Later the same year he ran in the cross-country event at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics where he finished in 13th place. Sweden won gold in the team cross-country event but Lundström was the sixth-best Swede to finish in the individual race with only the best three runners being awarded a medal. Lundström ran in the 5,000 metres at the Stockholm Games but did not finish in his heat. He was also scheduled to run in the 1,500 metres and the 10,000 metres but did not start in either race.
