Biography

Champion long-distance runner Ragnar Magnusson won multiple Swedish titles during the late 1920s and early 1930s. Magnusson won his first national title in 1927 when he was part of the victorious team in the cross-country race. He was prolific in the 10,000 metres team race, winning five gold medals (1928–29, 1932, 1934, 1936) and a bronze (1930). Individually Magnusson won three titles in the 5,000 metres (1930, 1932–33), and one title in the 10,000 metres (1932). He also won three silver medals in the 10,000 metres (1928–29, 1934), and a silver in the 5,000 metres (1928). Magnusson ran in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics with impressive results in both races, with fifth place in the former and sixth place in the latter.

Personal Bests: 5000 – 14:43.8 (1933); 10000 – 31:14.4 (1929).
