Magnus Nilsson

As a specialist in the pole vault Magnus Nilsson won five medals at the Swedish championships and competed at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. Nilsson won his first medal at the national championships in 1911 where he won silver after a best clearance of 3.40 metres. This performance earned him a spot at the Olympics in Stockholm, but he only jumped 3.20 metres, well below the qualification height of 3.65 metres that was needed to advance to the final. Later the same year Nilsson jumped 3.50 metres at the Swedish championships to earn him a bronze medal. In 1913 he went one better, jumping 3.51 meters to win silver, before winning his only national title in 1915 with a jump of 3.70 metres. Nilsson won one more medal at the Swedish championships, winning bronze in 1916 after clearing 3.50 metres.
