Leopoldo Cantancio boxed for the Philippines at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics. At the Asian Games he won a silver medal in 1986 and a bronze medal in 1990, all at lightweight. Cantancio became a coach, working with the Association of Boxing Alliances. He was killed in a motorcycle accident while driving from his home in Bacolod to Bago City to coach a team in the Panaad Boxing Tournament.
