Biography

Lars Erik Tirén was a Swedish track and field athlete who represented IFK Strängnäs and specialised in the pole vault. Tirén won bronze at the 1920 Swedish athletics championships, earning him a spot at the forthcoming Olympics. At the Antwerpen Games, however, he failed to register a height in the qualifying round and was eliminated from the competition. The following year he redeemed himself by becoming the national pole vault champion, setting a Swedish record in the process that stood until 1928.
