Biography

Eric Wennström was a multiple-time Swedish champion and world record holder in the 110 metres hurdles. Wennström won his first national title in the event in 1927, with his performance earning him a place at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. At the Amsterdam Games he finished second in his heat before being eliminated in the semi-finals. The following year he had his best performances when he won his second Swedish title along with setting a world record. The latter came at a meet against Norway in Stockholm when he ran a best time of 14.4 seconds. His world record stood until Percy Beard ran 14.3 seconds in 1934. Wennström won his third and final Swedish title in the 110 metres in 1931 before retiring from athletics the following year.
