Czechoslovak track and field athlete Jiří Hoffmann represented Sparta Praha where he competed in the long jump. In 1930 Hoffmann broke the national record in the event when he jumped 7.12 metres. He went on to improve his record on four further occasions, with his best jump of 7.26 metres coming in 1936. The same year he also competed at the Berlin Olympics but did not advance from the qualifying round.
