Felipe Nunag lost his round two fight in the flyweight division of the Olympic boxing tournament in Berlin 1936 against Belgian Raoul Degryse. Nunag pursued a military career and was appointed professor at the Philippine Military Academy. He eventually became aide de camp and security officer to Philippines’ president Ramon Magsaysay. Together with Magsaysay Nunag died in a plane crash when their Douglas C-47 touched on a tree that ripped off one wing on the slopes of Mount Manunggal, approximately 35 km northwest of Cebu City.
