Biography

Ludvík Liška was a middle-distance runner who competed in the 800 metres at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics for Czechoslovakia. During his career he represented Bee Brno (1949-50); ATK, later renamed ÚDA; Dukla Prague (1951-57), Spartak Sokolovo (1958-60), and Slavoja Stará Boleslav (1960-61). Liška was Czechoslovak national champion in the 800 in 1954 and 1956. He also competed at the 1954 European Championships, and was capped 16 times between 1952-59.

In 1953, Liška ran with Dušan Čikel, Alfréd Stržínek, and Stanislav Jungwirth as they broke the world record for the 4x800 metres with 7:28.0. Liška was a member of the Olympians Club and a founding member of the Emil Zátopek Athletic Center.

Personal Best: 800 – 1:49.0 (1955).
