Ladislav Moc

Ladislav Moc was a Czechoslovak athlete who competed in and coached race walking. Moc began his athletics career in 1952 in Praha. In October 1955 Moc set a world record in the 50 kilometres race walk. In April 1956, compatriot Milan Skřont broke Moc’s record, with Moc bettering the world record in the event two months later.

Moc competed in two events at the 1960 Roma Olympics. Moc finished in eighth place in the 20 kilometres race walk, and in 11th place in the 50 kilometres race walk. Moc was a ten-time champion of Czechoslovakia from 1957 to 1964, winning four titles at 20 kilometres, and six titles at 50 kilometres.

In 1970 Moc became a coach building his own training system. Jozef Pribilinec and Pavol Blažek were two of the many successful athletes trained by Moc.

Moc was the coach of the Czechoslovak team at the 1980 Moskva Olympics, and worked as a referee at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
