Miroslav Vítek began competing in track and field athletics from a young age and was selected for the Czechoslovak national team in 1931. Vítek focused on the discus throw and shot put, becoming a two-time national champion in the former (1932, 1935) and the second Czech athlete to break the 15-metre mark in the latter. He competed in both disciplines at the 1936 Berlin Olympics but did not advance from the qualifying rounds in either. After his athletics career Vítek worked as a teacher for the rest of his life in multiple institutions in Brno.
Personal Bests: SP – unknown; DT – 45.32 (1935).

We previously listed a different person (Jaroslav Vítek) as competing in the shot put, following Zur Megede and Kluge, but information from 1936 sources (entry list, daily programs) and Czech sources (e.g. Kolár) clearly indicates this is false.
