Throughout the 1930s and 1940s Jaša Bakov competed for Yugoslavia in the pole vault. Bakov was a three-time champion of Yugoslavia in the event, winning the title in 1934, 1937, and 1947. He competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he tied for 26th with two other athletes who all had a best clearance of 3.70 metres.
