Croatian track and field athlete Pedro Goić enjoyed success in both Europe and South America, with him representing Yugoslavia and Chile at international competitions. Born in the village of Pražnice in Austria-Hungary in 1896, Goić moved along with his family to Chile at the start of the 20th century. Whilst in South America he began to compete in the hammer throw, with his performances good enough to earn him a place on the Chilean national team. At the 1927 South American Championships in Athletics in Santiago he won silver in the hammer with a throw of 45.74 metres. The 1931 edition of the championships were held in Buenos Aires, with Goić winning gold in the hammer with 46.50 metres.
Later in 1931 Goić returned to Yugoslavia where he became a five-time national champion in the hammer throw (1931–34, 1938). His best performances came at the Balkan Games, with him winning five titles during the 1930s (1931–33, 1935, 1938). In 1934 he finished ninth in the hammer at the European Athletics Championships in Torino, Italy. At the end of his career Goić competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics but failed to advance from the qualifying round. He then turned to coaching, with Ivan Gubijan being one of the many athletes he trained.
Personal Best: HT – 48.99 (1932).
