Ismail Mačev was a 400 metre runner who ran that event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He also competed in the 4x400 relay for Yugoslavia at Seoul. Mačev competed at the 1991 World Championships and the European Championships in 1982, 1986, and 1990. He won two silver medals at the Mediterranean Games, in 1987 in the 400 and in 1991 in the 4x400 relay. Mačev also ran at the 1986-87 European Indoor Championships. He was Yugoslav Champion in the 400 in 1983 and 1986-88.
