Biography

Croatian track and field athlete Veljko Narančić represented Yugoslavia during the 1920s and 1930s and specialised in the shot put and discus throw. Narančić competed in both events at the 1924 Paris Olympics, finishing in 13th place in the shot and 18th in the discus. He missed the Amsterdam Games in 1928 but travelled to the United States for the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. In addition to competing in the discus throw he also had the honour of being the flag bearer for Yugoslavia at the Opening Ceremony. Four years later Narančić competed at his third and final Olympics when he participated in the discus at the 1936 Berlin Games.
