Biography

The son of a book publisher, Arnold Churchill attended Harrow School and then went to Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, and was the winner of the 3 miles for Cambridge vs. Oxford in 1904 and also was the winner of the University cross-country match in 1903 and again in 1904 in a record 42 minutes 17-8 seconds. He qualified as a barrister in 1907 and was called to the Inner Temple. He moved to Birmingham from London before the War and set up his legal practice. After serving as a Captain in the London Regiment in World War I, he returned to his practice in Birmingham, and continued working in it well into his eighties.
