Henry Weber

Educated at Rugby and then Clare College Cambridge, Henry Weber won the Freshman’s cross-country race in 1903 and went on to become a cross-country blue for Cambridge in 1905 and 1906, when he captained the team. In his only appearance in the Oxbridge Sports in 1907, he finished second in the mile. Called to the Bar in 1908, Weber joined Shell Oil and became General Manager for India. Compelled to remain there during the 1914-18 war, he joined the Bombay Defence Force. After the war, he served with Shell in Spain and London before resigning to join the Stock Exchange. On the outbreak of war in 1939, Weber joined the Censorship and travelled widely, with his last appointment being in the West Indies, where he settled after the war, and took up the post of Secretary-Director of the Globe Theatre in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He died in England while on annual leave.
