Béla Erődi’s first success was on the wrestling mat. He won the national wrestling championship in 1904 and 1905. Parallel to this, he did gymnastics regularly and, at the 1906 Olympics, competed both in wrestling and in gymnastics. His best result was a second place in the 10-meter rope climbing. A year later, in 1907, he won his first Hungarian individual gymnastics championship title as an athlete of Budapesti Postás. His excellent technical knowledge, amazing energy, and plastic posture simply fascinated the jury. After his sporting carrier, he worked as a trainer for Budapesti Postás, for III. TTV and later for UTE. At the 1928 Olympics, he was one of the trainers of the Hungarian women’s national gymnastic team.
