Béla Nagy

Béla Nagy, an athlete of MAC Budapest, won the Hungarian Championship title in sabre in 1901. At the 1906 Summer Olympic Games, he started in three disciplines: sabre individual, sabre individual (three hits) and sabre team event (4th). After his retirement, he became the president of the Hungarian Fencing Federation. Béla Nagy developed the rules of modern sabre fencing back in 1902, which later influenced the first official rules of the International Fencing Association (FIE). In his private life, he first worked as a magistrate and later opened a law office and led it until his death.
