Carl Svensson won a bronze medal in tug-of-war at the 1906 Athina Olympics. The Swedish team lost its opening match to the Greek team, but then defeated Austria for the bronze medal. Svensson also competed in the one-handed weightlifting in 1906, finishing fifth. He was Swedish weightlifting champion in 1906 and 1907. Svensson later became one of the first Swedish professional boxers.
