Carola Anding won a gold medal in the cross-country relay at Lake Placid and a relay bronze at the 1982 World Championships. In 1984 at Sarajevo she was eighth in the relay. Anding’s success in singles was only at the national level: between 1980 and 1982 she was second three times in the 5 km and twice in the 10 km (1980 and 1981) and had third-place finishes in 1979 (5 km), in 1984 (10 km), and in 1980 (15 km). In 1986 she finally became East German Champion, in the 15 km. Anding later married biathlete Matthias Jacob and both became physiotherapists for the German national cross-country skiers.
