Biography

Emese Dörfler-Antal was born in Romania and competed for Mureşul Târgu-Mureş before moving to Austria where she was awarded Austrian citizenship in 1991. She then represented Austria in speed skating at the 1994 Lillehammer and 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, with a best result of 13th over 3,000 metres in 1994.

Dörfler-Antal later married a Tyrolean and coached young speed skaters in Innsbruck, including mentally disabled athletes, whom she prepared for the Special Olympics. She also prepared various events under the motto “Sport Knows No Boundaries”, aiming to teach young people from home and abroad different languages in a playful way. Since 1997 she worked as an interpreter for the police and regional court in Innsbruck.

Personal Bests: 500 – 40.49 (2003); 1000 – 1:19.16 (2002); 1500 – 2:00.04 (2001); 3000 – 4:11.88 (2001); 5000 – 7:36.01 (2002).
