Biography

Růžena Beinhauerová was a talented sportswoman who represented Czechoslovakia in alpine skiing and rowing. Beinhauerová was working as a teacher in education establishments in Brno when she took up skiing, winning eleven national titles in cross-country and downhill races. She was selected to compete in the women’s combined Alpine skiing discipline at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics, where she came 22nd of the 37 competitors. In 1939 she switched her focus to rowing, going on to win 24 national titles. Beinhauerová later became a successful rowing coach and was awarded with the Meritorious Master of Sports for her sporting achievements.
