Biography
West German ice dancer Petra Born skated with Rainer Schönborn from 1981-85 and competed regularly both at the Europeans and the Worlds. In 1985 they had their best season, placing fifth at the Worlds and winning a European bronze medal. At the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics they finished ninth. In 1981 and 1982 the couple was runner-up at the West German nationals and from 1983-85 they won three national titles in a row.
Born later worked as an anesthesiologist at the St. Josefs Clinic in Neunkirchen-Kohlhof, stayed unmarried, and had a son.
