Biography
East German luger Ilona Brand placed fifth at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics in the women’s singles. In 1979 and 1980, Brand also won a silver medal and a bronze medal at the European Championships, respectively. She placed second both years at the GDR nationals.
