1928 Olympian Ellen Brockhöft was the dominating German figure skater in the 1920s winning seven German Championships (1921 and 1923-28) and placing second in 1920 and 1922, making her nationally the most successful female skater in Germany (as of 2016). A two-time World Championships singles silver medalist (1924 and 1925), she also placed fourth in 1927. After retiring from active sport in 1929, Brockhöft worked as a skating coach in St. Moritz.
