Italy’s Nives Dei Rossi was an accomplished Alpine skier who won nine medals at the national championships during her career. Dei Rossi won her first medal in 1933 with bronze in the downhill before winning another bronze two years later. She also won silver in the combined event and her first gold medal, in the slalom, in 1935. Her form earned her a place on the Italian Olympic team for the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Games where she finished 24th in the combined. More medals came after the Olympics, with Dei Rossi winning silver and bronze in the downhill in 1938 and 1939, respectively. Her finest year was undoubtably 1940 when she became the Italian champion in all three disciplines, winning gold in the downhill, slalom, and combined.
